本学の教育目標である「幅広い学習機会の提供」に貢献する。
本授業では、英語での基本的なコミュニケーションに必要な技能の向上を目標としている。まず学生諸君の「話す」能力と「聞く」能力を向上させることに重点を置き、徐々に「読む」能力と「書く」能力の向上も加えてゆき、最終的に英語の4技能すべての向上を目指す。
前期末までに、学生は以下のことができるようになっていること。
1) 英語で自己紹介と他人を紹介できる。
2) クラスメートとの共通事項を表現できる。
3) スポーツ、娯楽、好きなこと、嫌いなことなどのテーマについて自分の意見が言える。
4) 情報交換した上で、賛成や反対の自分の考えを表すことができる。
5) 話し相手の言っていることがわからない場合、わかるようになるよう努力をすることができる。
6) 『英語オンリー』の授業でも、問題なく授業に臨むことができる。
7) 欧米の習慣について少し理解ができる。
この授業は、対面時授業が終わるまでに課題のプリントを配布します。次の授業で回収します。オンライン対応には、ZOOMミーティングの後, YOU TUBE, POWERPOINT 「講義掲示」で資料配布やレポートと音声ファイルの課題回収を行う。

授業の１回当たり、予習の時間１時間、また復習の時間１時間が望ましい。予習として、次の授業で習う箇所の新出単語を調べておくこと。また、授業で内容がわかるよう前もって教科書の該当箇所を読んでおくこと。復習として、習った単語を声に出してみる。
ビジネス英会話1 アカデミック・ライティング
成績評価方法: 成績は、出席、授業に積極的に参加するかどうか（受講態度 70%: 会話、ペアワーク、参加度、小テスト 30%）により総合評価する。課題にコメント等を付けて次の授業で返却する。
