【授業の目的】

授業の位置付：DP2　一般知識、DP3　思考力　DP5　会話・文章力　DP6　意欲
本学の教育目標である「幅広い学習機会の提供」を専門学術の振興に貢献する。国際社会に対応できる大学生としての英会話力を磨くために英語の社会的，文化的背景を理解して，国際社会において英語で活躍できるようにする。This class will be taught only in English.

【到達目標】

本講義の終了時には、学生が以下の事柄ができるようになっていること。
１）海外での様々な状況において英語での自己表現。例えば、ホテルでのチェックイン、道を尋ねる、交通機関の使用時など。
２）西洋文化の理解。
３）英語のネイティブスピーカーとの会話での適切な英語の使い分け。
４）外国人に日本（自国）の文化について話す。
５）海外で直面するかもしれない問題の対処。例えば、入国審査、道に迷った、物を紛失した時など。
６）英語コミュニケーション能力の自信をつける。
７）自己学習の習慣。

【授業計画】

本講義は以下のトピックを含む。授業進度は学生の能力次第であり、それゆえ具体的な週毎の目標を立てるのは難しい。

1.Self introductions and course questionnaire. Why are you studying Tourism English？
事前学修：Listen to CD track 2
事後学修：Answer comprehension questions
2.Understanding and answering questions at Immigration.
事前学修：Prepare a dialogue at immigration
事後学修：practice dialogue at immigration in pairs and groups
3.Filling in an I-94; talking about personal information.
事前学修：Fill in immigration details with homework from workbook
事後学修：Listening and writing I-94 comprehension
4.Buying a train ticket.
事前学修：Listen to CD track 6
事後学修：Remember key words dealing with departure, cancelation and delay
5. Understanding train timetables. Using a Thomas Cook timetable and studying a Tube Map.
事前学修：Prepare for Mini test number 1 CD track 2, 3, 6, 7
事後学修：Remember key words and phrases
6. Mini Test 1 (15 minutes). Asking for help with minor problems in a hotel.
事前学修：Listen to CD track 8

7. Making requests for help.
事前学修：Comprehension check: Read and understand hotel problems from the workbook
事後学修：Understand and prepare a dialogue discussing problems with hotel front desk

【予習・復習】

授業の１回当たり、予習の時間１時間、また復習の時間１時間が望ましい。予習として、次の授業で習う箇所の新出単語を調べておくこと。また、授業で内容がわかるよう前もって教科書の該当箇所を読んでおくこと。復習として、習った単語を声に出してみる。必ず　授業の前に教科書に付いたCD を聞くこと。

【成績評価方法・注意】

出席重視。欠席は4回までしか認めない。成績は、期末テスト、小テスト、出席、宿題、授業に積極的に参加するかどうか（会話、ペアワーク、授業態度）により総合評価する。
注意１）楽勝科目ではない。英会話に自信がない学生は避けた方がいいでしょう。
2）履修する前にばーでん先生の持っている教科書が理解できるかどうか確認してください。
3）授業には必ず辞書を持参すること。電子辞書でも可。ただし、授業中に携帯電話の辞書機能の使用は不可。
